There are three (3) cleaning methods for items: Laundry process, Dry Cleaning process, and Wet Cleaning process. At S&B Cleaners, we know which process your specific item requires. For example, an item with a care label saying "Dry clean only" must only be dry cleaned and never laundered, but can be wet cleaned under strict supervision. Dry cleaning is the process of cleaning an item using a solvent. We use the best eco-friendly solvent, which is an eco-friendly hydrocarbon with an alcohol base for easy evaporation from the item upon drying. A dry cleaned only item can easily be damaged using the laundry process because the use of water as a solution for cleaning would destroy the intricate fiber of a dry clean only item, causing shriveling damage in surface shine and sometimes yarn slippage.
It depends on the fabric and how often you wear the item. Generally, suits and dresses should be dry cleaned every 3-5 wears, while delicate fabrics may need cleaning after every wear. Always check the care label for specific instructions.
Most garments that are labeled "dry clean only," such as suits, silk, wool, and certain delicate fabrics, are suitable for dry cleaning. Additionally, items like curtains, blankets, and upholstery can also be dry cleaned.
While some fabrics may be machine washable, it is not advisable to wash "dry clean only" items at home, as water and detergent can cause shrinkage, distortion, and damage. Always follow the care label and consult a professional cleaner for guidance.
Before bringing your clothes to the dry cleaner, remove any items from pockets, and inform the cleaner of any stains or spots. It's also a good idea to check for loose buttons or repairs needed, as dry cleaning does not fix these issues.
Treat the stain as soon as possible by blotting (not rubbing) the area with a clean cloth. Avoid using water or home remedies that may worsen the stain. Inform your dry cleaner about the stain when you drop off your item so they can use the appropriate treatment.
Traditional dry cleaning methods can use harsh chemicals that are harmful to the environment. However, at S&B Cleaners, we use eco-friendly solvents and practices to minimize our environmental impact while providing high-quality cleaning.
If you are not satisfied with the results, contact your dry cleaner immediately. Most reputable cleaners will work with you to resolve the issue, whether it's a re-cleaning or a refund, depending on their policies.
